As an institute of higher education where not everyone is fully vaccinated and where there will be a mixed population of both people who are fully vaccinated and people who are not fully vaccinated on campus, the goals of these procedures are: 1. To keep students, faculty, and staff members safe and healthy while participating in the community life and mission of the university. 2. Provide the best possible learning, teaching and fellowship experience for the campus community. 3. To keep our campus community as up-to-date as possible with the current understanding of how to prevent the spread of COVID both on and off campus.
These procedures for operating during the COVID are based on guidelines and advice from the State of Hawaii Department of Health and the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Additionally, the campus community must be prepared to be flexible as procedures may be updated and changed on short-notice as more scientific data and evidence continues to emerge. Possible changes could result in the reduction of in-person operations and classes moving online.
At this time, we ask that all students, faculty, and staff be overflowing with grace and compassion towards one another and to be mindful of each other.
