Isaiah 43:2-3

“When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you; When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.”

Isaiah 43:2-3

“When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you; When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.”

 Our statements of faith

  • We believe that there is one God, eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, & Holy Spirit.

  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible authoritative Word of God.

  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious death & atonement through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, & in His personal & visible return in power & glory.

  • We believe that man was created in the image of God, & that he was tempted by Satan & fell, & that because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely necessary for salvation.

  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life, & by Whom the Church is empowered to carry out Christ’s great commission.

  • We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved & the lost; those who are saved unto the resurrection of life & those who are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

Over 20 Years In The Making!

OUR HISTORY

Over 20 Years In The Making!

In September 1995, Pastor Wayne Cordeiro founded New Hope Christian Fellowship in Honolulu, Hawaii. He brought with him a passion to develop leaders for the church & decided to found the School of Church Planters (SCP) in response to this need for leadership training. Graduates of the SCP program went on to plant churches in more than twenty countries.

In 1998, the School of Church Planters was re-established as Pacific Rim Bible Institute. Pastor Wayne Cordeiro was appointed as President & Dr. Randall Furushima was Dean. Over the years, the Bible Institute grew into a college & finally, with the addition of graduate programs, the college became a university.

Between 2011 & 2015, the college was the Hawaii campus of New Hope Christian College in Eugene, Oregon. In 2015, by mutual agreement, the merger with New Hope Christian College was ended, & the Hawaii campus emerged as Pacific Rim Christian University, a new corporation with its own board. Dr. Kent Keith was appointed President, & Dr. Furushima was appointed President Emeritus & Dean of the Graduate School. In April 2015 the university, often known as “PacRim,” achieved independent initial accreditation from ABHE.

PacRim seeks to serve the larger Christian community in Hawaii & throughout the Pacific Rim. In Hawaii, the university has sponsored the John P.C. Makuakane Institute for Christian Leadership, which has offered training to Native Hawaiian pastors on the Island of Hawaii. In the Pacific, PacRim has relationships with institutes & colleges in Washington State, Japan, & Myanmar. PacRim faculty & staff have taught classes or made presentations in Australia, Japan, Saipan, Singapore, & China, & PacRim students have made mission trips to Japan, Costa Rica, & the Philippines. The PacRim campus community continues to enlarge the original calling of the school to equip lay leaders, ministers, & professionals within the Pacific Rim to change the world for Christ.

A LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT

A LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Aloha Voyagers,

At Pacific Rim Christian University we are Voyagers. Join us for a life-changing voyage! You'll benefit from an educational experience like no other!

We are called “voyagers” because Hawaii’s identity was established when a courageous Polynesian chief, Hawaii Loa, sailed from the Marquesas Islands to Hawaii, more than 2,400 miles. What a voyage! Like all journeys, it must have been filled with incredible challenges, but it ended with the joy of reaching a new land and starting a new life.

In the spirit of these voyagers, you also will be embarking on a remarkable journey. You will be in a great place to prepare you for whatever God is calling you to do. The faculty and staff are here to help you discover and develop your God-given gifts and capabilities. We are here to help you grow toward God, discover how you can advance the kingdom of God, and to lay the foundation for the rest of your life as a Christian.

At PacRim you will journey together with fellow rowers who care for each other, learn from one another, and build up one another. We desire to be a nurturing, mentoring community, an extended family or ohana. Additionally, our faculty members are practitioners—pastors, church leaders, musicians, artists, business leaders, nonprofit leaders and more.

Enlarge your vision for life. Explore your dreams! Engage in God's mission! Embrace the voyage!

Partners on the Voyage,

Craig Pankow
President
