End of Semester Is Near
As the semester at Pacific Rim Christian University (PacRim) draws to a close, the campus is buzzing with the energy of students preparing for final papers, projects, and presentations. The library is alive with keyboards clicking, study groups huddled in every corner, and coffee cups are a permanent accessory for many. It’s a season of hard work and focus but also one of reflection and growth—both academically and spiritually.
This past week, during one of our final chapel gatherings of the semester, we were reminded of a powerful truth that resonates deeply in this time of academic intensity: what it means to experience liberty in Christ. The message, delivered with passion and clarity, was based on Galatians 5:1—“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.” For many students, this sermon became an anchor amid deadlines and expectations.
Liberty in Christ: A Timely Reminder
The chapel speaker unpacked the idea that liberty in Christ is not about living without boundaries or accountability but about being free from the weight of sin, shame, and striving for approval. In a world where performance often defines worth—whether through grades, achievements, or social status—this message was a timely reminder that our identity is secure in Christ. We are not defined by our GPA or the quality of our final presentations but by the grace and love of God.
One particularly impactful moment from the sermon was when the speaker shared how true freedom comes from surrendering control. For students juggling multiple responsibilities—academics, part-time jobs, ministry work, and personal challenges—this was a call to trust God with every aspect of life. The speaker encouraged us to approach our studies not as a burden but as an act of worship, knowing that our efforts are ultimately for God’s glory.
Applying the Message to Finals Season
As students at PacRim, we are uniquely positioned to integrate faith into every aspect of our education. The sermon challenged us to reflect on how to live out this liberty in Christ even during the busiest times. Here are a few takeaways that many students have been embracing:
Shifting Perspective: Instead of viewing final papers and presentations as mere academic requirements, they become opportunities to steward the gifts God has given us. Whether writing about theology or presenting on leadership principles, we can see these tasks as ways to glorify Him.
Letting Go of Perfectionism: The message reminded us that we don’t have to strive for perfection to earn approval—God’s grace covers us. This truth has helped many students release unnecessary stress and focus on doing their best without fear.
Building Community: Liberty in Christ also means freedom to support one another. Study groups have become spaces for collaboration, prayer, and encouragement. Students are reminding each other that they’re not alone in this journey.
Looking Ahead
As we wrap up this semester, there’s a sense of gratitude on campus—not just for the academic growth but for the spiritual lessons learned along the way. The chapel sermon on liberty in Christ has left an indelible mark on our hearts, encouraging us to walk into finals week with confidence and peace.
At PacRim, education is more than just acquiring knowledge; it’s about transformation. As we finish strong this semester, we know that our ultimate freedom is found in Christ—a truth that sustains us far beyond any classroom or assignment.
To all PacRim students: keep pressing forward! Remember that your worth isn’t measured by grades but by God’s unchanging love for you. Let’s finish this semester with excellence and faith, trusting in His strength every step of the way.
