Here is a guide on how to apply for and obtain financial aid. If you qualify, Federal Grants can significantly lower your total tuition and fees, which are referred to as the "Cost of Attendance.”
File a FAFSA®
Filing your FAFSA® is the single most crucial step in the financial aid process. You will need the following to complete your FAFSA®:
Federal Student Aid ID (FSA ID)–You and one parent will each need an FSA ID as an electronic signature. Your FSA ID will be used each year you file a FAFSA®. You may apply at https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch
Social Security Number and your parents’ numbers (if you are a dependent student)
Federal income tax information. We recommend all eligible students use the IRS data retrieval tool. Dependent students must provide their parents’ tax information.
Current bank statements (checking & savings)
Any information about the value of any owned businesses and investments.
Any information about non-taxable income value not reported on the tax return, e.g., Social Security benefits, etc.
Log in to the FAFSA® site to fill out the form.
The school code for PRCU is 042527.
The PRCU Financial Aid Office strongly encourages applicants to select the option to allow the FAFSA® to retrieve their IRS data so they don’t have to find their tax transcripts physically.
If you plan to request loans, you must complete Entrance Counseling and MPN.
Check your status: Three days after you successfully file the FAFSA®, you can check online to see if anything is incomplete or if additional steps need to be taken. We will get our copy/report within about two weeks of it having been submitted online.
Schedule an Appointment with the Financial Aid Office
The Financial Aid Office is here to advocate for each of our student’s eligibility for maximal grants. We can help make your financial investment in your future painless by helping you complete your FAFSA®. Feel free to contact finaid@pacrim.edu for assistance.
Review and Accept Your Award
Remember, accepting the award amount you intend to use is a critical. You have the option to use the online accept / reject financial aid tool in Populi to take full or partial award amounts or to reject an award entirely. If you want to discuss your financial aid options before deciding, contact your counselor in the Office of Financial Aid.
Apply for Direct Federal Loans
For fall term enrollment, it is best to apply by early summer. Before borrowing, you should educate yourself about the student loans that are available to you:
If you are taking out a loan, complete your Master Promissory Note and Entrance Interview Counseling (if necessary) as soon as possible to assure your award amount is delivered timely.
Funding Arrives
Assuming you've completed the necessary steps, rest assured that your financial aid should be prepared for the start of the school term. PacRim strives to disburse all the available assistance as soon as possible, ensuring that students' performances are settled before the commencement of classes.
Once your account has more aid than pending charges, you can expect to receive a refund for the excess financial aid. This refund will be a paper check and can be collected at the Business Office.
