Next steps
After filing the FAFSA®, several steps will need to be taken to ensure that you receive the financial aid for which you are eligible.
Remember, after PacRim has sent you an award letter, you must first accept the award before using it. To take out a loan you have received, you must complete all required steps.
Checking up
After you submit the FAFSA® online, you can watch your email inbox for messages about your FAFSA®. Three days after you hit “submit” and file the FAFSA®, you can check the status of your FAFSA® online on the FAFSA® site. You can see if anything is incomplete or if additional steps must be taken.
Accepting award
After receiving your award letter, research the types of aid you qualify for. You must accept the award to use it.
New incoming students must complete a Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling to receive Federal Student Loans. These forms can be accessed at studentaid.gov. Current students typically do not need to resubmit the Master Promissory Note or Entrance Counseling.
You must apply for the loan yearly if awarded a Parent PLUS or Alternative Loan. Unlike federal student loans, PLUS loans and alternative loans are not guaranteed. Applicants’ credit history must be verified each year for eligibility.
